When we shout out for emerging filmmakers to enter their films into our festival, we don’t just offer them the chance to get their work up on the big screen. Finalists compete for three major prizes, and get their work seen and judged by some of the best in the industry.

Clayton Jacobson graduated from Australia’s prestigious Swinburne Film & TV school in the mid '80s. Collaborating with established directors, Clayton entered the industry editing feature films, TV and documentaries, working with such luminaries as Jane Campion (The Piano), Richard Lowenstein (Dogs in Space), Paul Goldman (Australian Rules), Andrew Dominik (Chopper) and John Hillcoat (The Proposition). Like many directors before him, Clayton cut his teeth directing music videos for some of Australia's premier musical acts including INXS, John Farnham, Kate Ceberano, and Jimmy Barnes to name just a few. Clayton then shifted gear, directing award winning local and international television commercials as well as two documentaries: The Holy Roadside for Mushroom records and Inside This Room, an ABC-TV special featuring the work of performers/composers David Hirschfelder and David Hobson. Following on from directing many award winning short films, Clayton created Kenny – Self Proclaimed Scatologist the award winning short film at the 2004 St Kilda Film Festival which led to the creation of Kenny, the Australian box office and critically acclaimed hit of 2006. Clayton has also developed the recent Kenny’s World the TV Series for Channel 10, and currently has several other feature film projects in development in Australia and America. |

Miranda Wills initially gained her experience in natural history documentaries working with the ABC Natural History Unit and independent producers in Sydney. She recently directed the one-hour documentary 2 Mums and a Dad (produced by Sally Ingleton) for SBS, which won Best Documentary at the Dendy and ATOM Awards 2007

Eddie Tamir is an award winning filmmaker and owner of two innovative cinemas – The Classic in Elsternwick, and Cameo Cinemas in Belgrave.
